Small gram negative rods, non- motile and facultatively anaerobic. Bacteria occur singly,
capsulated with very mucoid colonies.

The dust may produce eye discomfort causing smarting, pain and redness.
INCUBATION PERIOD:
Principal routes of exposure are by skin contact, accidental injection (needle stick), ingestion and/or inhalation of aerosols. Symptoms and longer term effects are related to the pathology of the infection.
