The case history of a man with toxic shock syndrome (TSS) has been reported. A 41-year old man exposed a healing knee injury to used tampons while cleaning a toilet. He was admitted to hospital with a temperature of 39.8 deg.C. He developed diarrhoea, a systolic blood pressure between 80 and 100 millimetres of mercury, and erythroderma of the entire body.
