May cause SENSITIZATION by skin contact.
Irritating to eyes and skin.
Flammable.
Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long- term adverse effects in the aquatic
environment.
Although ingestion is not thought to produce harmful effects, the material may still be damaging to the health of the individual following ingestion, especially where pre- existing organ (e.g. liver, kidney) damage is evident. Present definitions of harmful or toxic substances are generally based on doses producing mortality (death) rather than those producing morbidity (disease, ill-health). Gastrointestinal tract discomfort may produce nausea and vomiting. In an occupational setting however, ingestion of insignificant quantities is not thought to be cause for concern. Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments.
This material can cause eye irritation and damage in some persons. The material may produce moderate eye irritation leading to inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis.
This material can cause inflammation of the skin oncontact in some persons. Skin contact is not thought to have harmful health effects, however the material may still produce health damage following entry through wounds, lesions or abrasions.
The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or irritation of the respiratory tract (as classified using animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable control measures be used in an occupational setting.
Skin contact with the material is more likely to cause a sensitization reaction in some persons compared to the general population.
Principal route of exposure is usually by skin contact and inhalation of vapour. Individuals may become sensitized after repeated or prolonged contact which may lead to the development of contact dermatitis and allergic response. Open cuts, abrasions and irritated skin areas must not be exposed to these products. Inhalation exposure increases if resin is heated or misted. Acute effects from inhalation of high concentrations of solvent vapour are pulmonary irritation, including coughing, nausea, dizziness, increased time, loss of co-ordination and fatigue. Loss of consciousness may follow prolonged exposure. Chronic inhalation exposures may result in liver and blood changes. Sensitized individuals should not use this material. WARNING: This product may contain very low levels of residual epichlorohydrin which has been reported to produce cancer in laboratory animals. Limited animal studies have indicated that Bisphenol A - diglycidyl ethers may be potential carcinogens. Extreme care should be exercised in handling the material. [Patty's]
