Starting fluid for diesel engines.
"fluid cylinder"
Harmful if swallowed.
Irritating to skin.
Possible risk of impaired fertility.
Harmful: danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure through
inhalation.
Extremely flammable.
Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation.
Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long- term adverse effects in the
aquatic environment.
Risk of explosion if heated under confinement.
Accidental ingestion of the material may be harmful; animal experiments indicate that ingestion of less than 150 gram may be fatal or may produce serious damage to the health of the individual. Not normally a hazard due to physical form of product.
There is some evidence to suggest that this material can causeeye irritation and damage in some persons. The material may produce moderate eye irritation leading to inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis. Eye contact with alkyl ethers (vapor or liquid) may produce irritation, redness and tears.
This material can cause inflammation of the skin oncontact in some persons. The material may cause severe skin irritation after prolonged or repeated exposure and may produce on contact skin redness, swelling, the production of vesicles, scaling and thickening of the skin. Repeated exposures may produce severe ulceration. Repeated exposure may cause skin cracking, flaking or drying following normal handling and use. Material on the skin evaporates rapidly and may cause tingling, chillingand even temporary numbness. Entry into the blood-stream, through, for example, cuts, abrasions or lesions, may produce systemic injury with harmful effects. Examine the skin prior to the use of the material and ensure that any external damage is suitably protected.
Inhalation may produce health damage*. Inhalation of high concentrations of gas/vapor causes lung irritation with coughing and nausea, central nervous depression with headache and dizziness, slowing of reflexes, fatigue and inco-ordination. Inhalation of non-toxic gases may cause: · CNS effects: headache, confusion, dizziness, stupor, seizures and coma; · respiratory: shortness of breath and rapid breathing; · cardiovascular: collapse and irregular heart beats; · gastrointestinal: mucous membrane irritation, nausea and vomiting. WARNING: Intentional misuse by concentrating/inhaling contents may be lethal.
Principal routes of exposure are usually by inhalation of vapour and skin contact/absorption. Chronic solvent inhalation exposures may result in nervous system impairment and liver and blood changes. [PATTYS]. Prolonged or continuous skin contact with the liquid may cause defatting with drying, cracking, irritation and dermatitis following. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapor, mist or dust in work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice.
