The material can produce severe chemical burns within the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract following ingestion. Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments. Ingestion may result in nausea, abdominal irritation, pain and vomiting.
The material can produce severe chemical burns to the eye following direct contact. Vapors or mists may be extremely irritating. If applied to the eyes, this material causes severe eye damage. The liquid may produce eye discomfort causing smarting, pain and redness.
The material can produce severe chemical burns following direct contactwith the skin. Sensitization may result in allergic dermatitis responses includingrash, itching, hives or swelling of extremities. Sensitization reactions may appear suddenly after repeatedsymptom free exposures. Bare unprotected skin should not be exposed to this material. The material may accentuate any pre-existing skin condition.
If inhaled, this material can irritate the throat andlungs of some persons. Not normally a hazard due to non-volatile nature of product.
There has been concern that this material can cause cancer or mutations, but there is not enough data to make an assessment. Skin contact with the material is more likely to cause a sensitization reaction in some persons compared to the general population.
Primary route of exposure is usually by skin contact with the liquid. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapor, mist or dust in work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice.
