Disinfectant and liquid bleach for laundry use.
"laundry bleach", disinfectant
Contact with combustible material may cause fire.
Contact with acids liberates toxic gas.
Irritating to eyes and skin.
Although ingestion is not thought to produce harmful effects, the material may still be damaging to the health of the individual following ingestion, especially where pre- existing organ (e.g. liver, kidney) damage is evident. Present definitions of harmful or toxic substances are generally based on doses producing mortality (death) rather than those producing morbidity (disease, ill-health). Gastrointestinal tract discomfort may produce nausea and vomiting. In an occupational setting however, ingestion of insignificant quantities is not thought to be cause for concern. Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments.
This material can cause eye irritation and damage in some persons.
This material can cause inflammation of the skin oncontact in some persons. Skin contact is not thought to have harmful health effects, however the material may still produce health damage following entry through wounds, lesions or abrasions.
The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or irritation of the respiratory tract (as classified using animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable control measures be used in an occupational setting.
Principal routes of exposure are usually by inhalation of vapour and skin/eye contact. Excessive inhalation of vapours, mists or fumes may cause bronchial irritation, coughing, laboured breathing, nausea and pulmonary oedema. Additional effects have included circulatory collapse and confusion, delirium and coma. Cases of contact dermatitis have been reported with the use of sodium hypochlorite. Symptoms include severe itchness associated with skin lesions and mild eczema. Prolonged contamination of eyes can result in permanent injury. Cases of poisoning following ingestion of sodium hypochlorite have been reported. Symptoms include stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, hypoactivity, musclar weakness, emaciation, and in severe cases, death. [NIOSHTIC] Systemic effects include fall in blood pressure, delirium and coma.
