POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS

SWALLOWED

  The material can produce chemical burns within the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract following ingestion.  Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments.  Ingestion may result in nausea, abdominal irritation, pain and diarrhea.  

EYE

  The material can produce chemical burns to the eye following direct contact. Vapors or mists may be extremely irritating.  If applied to the eyes, this material causes severe eye damage.  The material may produce severe irritation to the eye causing pronounced inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis.  

SKIN

  The material can produce chemical burns following direct contactwith the skin.  Bare unprotected skin should not be exposed to this material.  Toxic effects may result from skin absorption.  The material may accentuate any pre-existing dermatitis condition.  

INHALED

  If inhaled, this material can irritate the throat andlungs of some persons.  Not normally a hazard due to non-volatile nature of product.  Reactions may not occur on exposure but response may be delayed with symptoms only appearing many hours later.  

CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS

  Principal routes of exposure are usually by skin contact with the material.  eye contact.  with the material and inhalation of generated dust.  Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause drying with cracking,irritation and possible dermatitis following.  Chronic dust exposure symptom is narrowing of the esophagus, with  difficulty in swallowing.  This may happen after weeks or months of exposure. [CCINFO Mallinck]
