The liquid may cause third degree burns depending on length of exposure. The liquid may cause permanent sight impairment. Inhalation of mist may result in spasm, inflammation and oedema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and severe pulmonary oedema. Symptoms of overexposure include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting. Ingestion causes severe mucous membrane damage, nausea, vomiting, upper respiratory tract inflammation, suffocation, stomach inflammation, cardiac arrest, possible death. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapor, mist or dust in work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice.
